A few definitions first

The wheels play a truly vital and therefore important role: they are the postcard-sized connection between the vehicle and the road. They are largely responsible for the acceleration and propulsion, as well as for the deceleration – i.e., braking – of your vehicle. The wheels therefore play a key role. Anyone who develops and sells wheels bears a great responsibility. We are aware of this responsibility; we have internalized it and implement it in every new development. At AC Schnitzer, we only use high-quality brand-name tires, developed in close cooperation with premium tire manufacturers. On the one hand, the tires must perfectly transfer the engine's power to the road; on the other hand, properties such as braking performance, lateral stability, water drainage in the rain, and straight-line stability are important decision criteria for or against a tire. A set of wide-base tires is always an investment in increased driving safety and dynamics. To maintain driving comfort when using larger wheel dimensions, we at AC Schnitzer have actively opted against run-flat tires and opted for sporty, conventional tires. Conventional tires create less rolling resistance and offer noticeably more comfort. All AC Schnitzer wheel sets are tuned in multi-stage driving tests on the road and on racetracks. Only after successful test runs are the wheels released for sale. All AC Schnitzer wheel sets are delivered fully assembled and balanced. They are covered by a two-year manufacturer's warranty. Included in delivery are mounting materials such as adapters and wheel bolts, as well as the parts certificate (except for wheel sets marked for export).

Innovative, high-quality design down to the smallest detail Specially for SUV vehicles: The new AC Schnitzer AC2 light alloy wheels With the weight-optimised AC2 light alloy wheel, AC Schnitzer is launching the first AC Schnitzer wheel for Jaguar Range Rover and Land Rover. The new AC Schnitzer AC2 light alloy wheel has a unique look, with ten-armed, stylised Y-spokes reminiscent of the tentacles of an octopus. Manufactured using a low-pressure casting process with subsequent heat treatment, the rim star of the monoblock wheel offers a clear view of the axle and brakes. The centre of the “cephalopod” on the AC2 light alloy wheel is the hub cap in its classic, pentagonal shape with the AC Schnitzer logo. Just like the octopus, the “brain” of the light alloy wheel is not just in the head, but branches out into its outermost components. Only high-quality aluminum alloys with the AlSi7 or AlSi11 specifications are used. Both materials undergo additional heat treatment during production, resulting in increased strength while simultaneously reducing weight. Material samples taken during the manufacturing process ensure consistent, high-quality material.

Steps on the Road to Perfection: A high-quality cast blank is essential for a perfect and long-lasting wheel. AC Schnitzer uses the low-pressure casting process to produce it. The aluminum alloy is pressed into a multi-part casting mold at a pressure of up to 1.2 bar. After cooling to approximately 400 degrees Celsius, the mold is opened, and the cast blank is ready for further processing. This involves machining and a complex painting process. X-ray inspections, leak tests, and the application of various measuring methods throughout the entire production process ensure the consistent, high quality of the wheel.

Black surface
In this process, the wheel is first primed, then painted completely black. A two-layer clear coat is then applied, consisting of a polyester primer and an acrylic clear coat.

Testing procedures/safety
After their design, the first sample rims are manufactured under real production conditions. These must undergo a multitude of tests. Among other things, their strength is tested. The bending test simulates the "rim lifespan." Every AC Schnitzer rim must survive this lifespan unscathed in order to be produced and sold. Vehicle-specific tests, including test installations with clearance measurements and driving tests on public roads and racetracks, follow. Only after these procedures do our rims receive homologation, i.e., approval for use on public roads. Wheels are safety-critical components. Therefore, they are inspected and tested with the utmost care. This begins with initial chemical material tests and concludes with rigorous endurance tests on test machines: - §30 StVZO wheel guidelines - ECE R124 - Bending tests - 90° impact test - Rolling tests
