The parts certificate is an official document that permits the use of tuning parts on public roads under the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations) in Germany (and several other countries). After the part described in the certificate has been installed or modified, the vehicle must be presented to an official inspection center. The inspector will verify the correct installation and authenticity of the part and then enter the modification in the vehicle documents. The vehicle's official operating license thus remains valid.
