Philosophy/Design
A generational shift in AC Schnitzer rims: Not only the name, but also the design – both point to a generational shift in the rim segment at AC Schnitzer. While the AC1 rims have a different design, they follow in the footsteps of their predecessors in one key aspect: they too are intended to become design classics. With the AC1 rims, AC Schnitzer has reinterpreted the classic double-spoke design. The result is a sporty hybrid look. Towards the rim flange, the sophisticated design forms the points of triangles, which widen towards the center of the rim and are then replaced by five trapezoids. These draw the eye directly to the only classic element of the AC1 rim: the pentagonal center cap with the AC Schnitzer logo. Despite this multitude of stylistic elements, the design appears clean and masculine thanks to its very straight lines. All these elements, working together, lend the AC1 wheel a sense of solidity and presence. Only high-quality aluminum alloys with the specifications AlSi7 or AlSi11 are used. Both material types undergo additional heat treatment during the production process, resulting in increased strength and simultaneous weight reduction. Material samples taken during the manufacturing process ensure the consistently high quality of the material.

Steps on the Road to Perfection: A high-quality cast blank is the prerequisite for a perfect and durable wheel. AC Schnitzer uses the low-pressure casting process for its production. In this process, the aluminum alloy is pressed into a multi-part mold at a pressure of up to 1.2 bar. After cooling to approximately 400 degrees Celsius, the mold is opened, and the cast blank is ready for further processing. This takes place through machining and a complex painting process. X-ray inspections, leak tests, and the application of various measuring methods throughout the entire manufacturing process ensure the consistently high quality of the wheel.

Surface Black
In this process, the wheel is first primed, then completely painted. A two-layer clear coat is then applied, consisting of a polyester primer and a matte acrylic clear coat.

Testing procedures/safety
After their design, the first prototype rims are manufactured under real production conditions. These must undergo a multitude of tests, including tests for strength. The bending fatigue test simulates the rim's lifespan. Every AC Schnitzer rim must pass this test without damage to be produced and sold. Vehicle-specific tests, including trial installations with clearance measurements and driving tests on public roads and racetracks, follow. Only after these procedures do our rims receive their homologation, meaning they are approved for use on public roads. Wheels are safety-relevant components. Therefore, they are inspected and tested with the utmost care. This begins with initial chemical material tests and culminates in rigorous endurance tests on testing machines: - §30 StVZO Wheel Directive - ECE R124 - Bending fatigue tests - 90° impact test - Rolling tests
